• 〜屈指の (one of the foremost / leading)彼は国内屈指の脳外科医として知られている。He is known as one of the country's foremost brain surgeons.
• 〜をなおざりにして (neglecting / making light of)彼は本業をなおざりにして、趣味にばかり熱中している。Neglecting his main job, he is absorbed only in his hobbies.
• 〜の余地がない (there is no room for)彼の有罪は、もはや疑いの余地がない。There is no longer any room for doubt about his guilt.
• 〜ても始まらない (it's no use / pointless even if)今さら後悔しても始まらない。前を向くしかない。It's no use regretting it now; we have no choice but to look ahead.
• 〜にこしたことはない (there's nothing better than / it's best to)用心するにこしたことはないから、戸締まりはしっかりと。There's nothing better than being cautious, so lock up securely.
• 〜ずじまい (ended up not doing / without ever)結局、彼には一度も会えずじまいだった。In the end, I never did get to meet him even once.
