Ask who, what, where, when, why, and how — plus the words that join sentences.

• khi nàowhen (future/general; goes at start)when | Khi nào bạn đi? = When will you go? (for a past event, put bao giờ after the clause: Bạn đi bao giờ? = When did you go?)
• tại saowhy (tại sao / sao / vì sao)why | Tại sao bạn buồn? = Why are you sad? (sao alone is more casual: Sao vậy? = Why? / What's up?)
• như thế nàohow (in what way; full form, goes at end)how | Món này nấu như thế nào? = How is this dish cooked? (often shortened to thế nào in speech)
• bao nhiêuhow much / how many (10+ or uncountable)how much/many | Cái này bao nhiêu tiền? = How much is this? / Bạn bao nhiêu tuổi? = How old are you?
• mấyhow many (small number, expected under ~10)how many (small) | Bây giờ là mấy giờ? = What time is it now? / Bạn có mấy người con? = How many children do you have?
• nàowhich (always follows a noun)which | Bạn thích cái nào? = Which one do you like? / Người nào? = Which person?
• có ... khôngyes/no question marker (frames the whole sentence)yes/no question | Bạn có khỏe không? = Are you well? / Bạn có đi không? = Are you going? (answer: có = yes / không = no)

• hayor (in questions / choices)or (question) | Bạn đi hay ở? = Are you going or staying? / Cái này hay cái kia? = This one or that one?
