Import your Anki deck

You can import an Anki .apkgdeck into EverFlip for free, right in your browser — no app to install, no signup tax. EverFlip reads the deck on your device and keeps studying it with the same modern algorithm Anki uses (FSRS), and you can export back to Anki anytime, so there's no lock-in. If your deck includes review history, you'll also see your past Anki stats as a baseline.

Anki is brilliant, but it asks a lot up front: install the app, learn a dense interface, manage profiles and sync. If you just want to study the cards you already have on whatever device is in front of you, EverFlip imports your deck and gets out of your way.

EverFlip reschedules every imported card from a clean slate with FSRS, so you pick up studying right away. As a bonus, if your .apkg carries review history, EverFlip parses it on your device and shows a “Your Anki track record”report — reviews done, days studied, time on cards, and (once you have enough mature reviews) your recall % as a baseline to beat. Freshly-made or never-studied decks simply skip that report.

How it works

  1. 1
    Export from Anki

In Anki: File → Export, choose "Anki Deck Package (.apkg)" and tick "Support older Anki versions". You get a .apkg file.

  2. 2
    Open the importer

On EverFlip, pick a language, go to My decks → New deck, and choose your .apkg file. It is read entirely in your browser — the file never leaves your device.

  3. 3
    Check the cards, then save

Review the detected columns and card preview, then save. If your deck carries review history, a "Your Anki track record" report appears too — reviews, days studied, and recall % as a baseline.

  4. 4
Study — and own your cards

Your deck schedules with real FSRS spaced repetition. Export it back to Anki text or CSV anytime; nothing is locked in.

What carries over — and what doesn't

  • ✓ Your card fronts, backs, and extra fields (HTML is cleaned to plain text).
  • ✓ A read-only summary of your review history — when the deck includes one.
  • ✗ Anki's scheduling state — EverFlip starts each card fresh with FSRS.
  • ✗ Media (images/audio), cloze/multi-card note types, and deck hierarchy.
  • ✗ The newer (zstd) .apkgformat — re-export with “Support older Anki versions” ticked.
